How we report
The aim of our Environmental and Social Report is to inform about the environmental and social aspects of our business and to support dialogue with our stakeholders.
Unless otherwise indicated, the 2012 report covers selected activities across the global operations owned by the DeLaval Group from January 2010 to December 2011. Some areas of engagement, such as disaster relief and Food for Development, are coordinated through Tetra Laval.
We have chosen the topics in this report to reflect the issues most relevant, or material, to our business. To determine these, we mapped how our company and our stakeholders rated the importance of sustainability issues.
The main stakeholders who influence DeLaval’s performance and goals, or are influenced by the company, are: Customers, Dealers, the Board, Employees, Academic and Research institutions, Suppliers and Trade associations. We have not counted the number of stakeholders this represents and have identified the need for a more thorough stakeholder analysis.
Using customer and employee surveys, internal strategy documents, workshops, trend analysis, research and media reporting, the following priorities were identified as subjects for reporting.
With regards the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), we have used the GRI framework as a reference point for the development of this report. This is not a formal GRI report and we have not requested external assurance.
Communication on progress
Every two years we plan to report on our strategy and how we influence the environmental and social issues that matter most to our business and where we can have the greatest impact. The next update is due 2014.
